Ingredients:

  1. Medium red pepper, chopped
  2. Half cup chopped celery
  3. 4-foot cup diced onion
  4. Salt to taste
  5. 1 cup cooked lentils
  6. 1 cup ketchup (plus more if needed)
  7. 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  8. 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  9. Half cup chopped onions
  10. 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  11. 1 package beef crumbles (or substitute with lentils)
  12. Half cup ketchup
  13. Half cup hoisin sauce
  14. 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  15. 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  16. 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  17. Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking steps:

  • Heat oil in a pan and sauté red pepper, celery, and onion. Add salt and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add cooked lentils, ketchup, and brown sugar to the pan. Stir well and taste for seasoning.
  • To make the Asian-inspired version, heat sesame oil in another pan and sauté onions and garlic.
