To make this recipe, you need two cans of whole peeled tomatoes, onion, garlic, olive oil, butter, sugar, stock or water, cream, salt, pepper, basil, and your favorite herbs. First off, grab a Dutch oven or a big pot. Chop the onion and mince the garlic. Melt butter and olive oil in the pot. Cook the onion until translucent. Add the garlic and cook for another 5 minutes. Open the cans of tomatoes, then stir them into the pot. Add stock, sugar, and black pepper. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 30 minutes. Add basil and any desired spices.
