To make these burgers, you'll need the following ingredients:
- 2 (15-ounce) cans of black beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 teaspoons of onion powder
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder with parsley
- 1 teaspoon of dried parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of minced garlic
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup of bread crumbs
- 3/4 cup of shredded cheese
- 3 tablespoons of blended chipotles in adobo
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon of fresh lime juice
Start by preheating your oven to 375°F. Spread the drained and rinsed black beans in an even layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil (sprayed with nonstick cooking spray if using aluminum foil). Bake the beans for 12 to 15 minutes.
Once the beans are done, set them on a cooling rack to cool for 5 to 10 minutes. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F. Transfer the beans to a large mixing bowl and use a potato masher or fork to break them down, leaving some larger pieces intact.
Add all the remaining ingredients to the mixing bowl and mix until just combined. Use a measuring cup to portion out the mixture and shape it into burger patties. Place the patties on a baking sheet sprayed with nonstick cooking spray and bake for 10 to 12 minutes on each side, for a total of 20 to 24 minutes.
Serve the burgers on your favorite buns with your choice of toppings. These chipotle black bean burgers are perfect for those looking for a meatless alternative that is flavorful and satisfying.
